Descus

The Binder, The Keeper of the Scrolls

Deity of Sages, Deity of Law Makers, Deity of Justice

Descus represents the pursuit of knowledge, the devotion to learning, and the commitment to justice. Study of The Binder reveals evil cannot be found in a book, only descriptions of evil acts. According to the teachings of Descus, just as a collection of books and scrolls should be kept high, dry, and in an orderly fashion to protect the lore; so too should settled lands be an orderly place, to protect the inhabitants. Those who promote the tenets of Descus do not dismiss the need for charity, but believe that the downtrodden should repay in kind through personal sacrifice, with a commitment to improve their station through study or teaching. Villages have rules, thus so should the lands surrounding them. With rules, no falsehoods should ever be spoken, and no crimes ever be committed. The presence of law ensures crimes are easily identified, thus punishment can be immediately dealt. The Binder teaches there is no question asked that cannot be answered in a book, and no dispute unresolved that cannot be settled by a law.

One should avoid those who do not seek to learn or teach at every opportunity, for they are weak or simple.
