Viscus

The Dark General, The Widow Maker

Deity of War, Deity of Generals, Deity of Conquest

Viscus is war. Whether the war is oppressive and cruel, or just and for freedom, the shadow of The Dark General looms over the hearts of all who fight. Viscus is often invoked on the field of battle, whether asked for victory, ordered to curse a foe, or begged for mercy. The Dark General is the unseen ally or enemy of those who fight, as well as the silent guest of those who wait for a soldier’s return. Only when the soldier returns alive does the shadow of The Widow Maker no longer darken their doorway. The Dark General is never openly invoked, until war cannot be avoided. Only then is Viscus added to daily prayer, to ask for a soldier’s swift return. It is the choice of the faithful to ask for swift victory for their loved one, or for the swift death of their enemy. Making a choice between these prayers often leaves a shadow over the hearts of the people long after The Dark General departs.

Symbol: A spear and sword crossed in front of a shield

Alignment: Lawful Evil

Domains: Law, War, Evil

Favored Weapon: Bastard Sword (For it is wielded with one hand to fight, and it is wielded with two hands to kill)

Dogma: Law, not honor, ensures victory. Always remember to advance when strong, retreat when outnumbered, and never trust another to fight for you. If giving orders, give them well, and if receiving orders, heed them well, for to do neither is to ensure defeat.
